2025. Alberto Guerreiro Ramos (1915-1982) was one of the greatest sociologists Brazil has ever had. He was a highly cultured intellectual who criticized the Brazilian sociology of his time, which he saw as a mere transplantation of European and American culture, a set of theories that had little to do with the underdeveloped reality of Brazil.

2024. The new historical facts that explain the quasi-stagnation of the Brazilian economy were the public savings that turned negative, and two causes associated with the exchange rate: the belief in the policy of growth with foreign savings and the non-neutralization of the Dutch disease by engaging in trade liberalization. Those three facts depressed the investment rate.

Luiz Carlos Bresser-Pereira, Carmem Feijó e Eliane Cristina Araújo (2022) This paper criticizes the “fundamental equilibrium” concept and develops two econometric tests. The first checks whether the four determinant variables used in the model are
relevant. The second verifies whether this model is a good predictor of the exchange rate throughout time. (Paper: Structural Change and Economic Dynamics).

2019. New developmentalism is a theoretical framework that explains growth and the failure to grow of developing countries, particularly the Latin American middle-income countries, which suffer from the Dutch disease and dependency in relation to the North.
